The best NFL moments of all time
Over the last 100 years, the NFL has given us so many amazing, jaw dropping, and unforgettable moments. There is no other sport as exciting as this one. Today, we are going to celebrate our 7 favorite unforgettable moments from the NFL.
#1 – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers break the home game curse
Every year the NFL picks a team to host the Super Bowl in their grounds. This team is called the home team.
Between the 1st and the 51st Super Bowls, we didn’t see a single home team get to play.
However, in the 2020-21 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers surprised everyone by getting a playoff wild card. They then had an easy run through the playoffs and became the first home team ever to play at the Super Bowl.
Not only did they play at a home Super Bowl but they won it too. And their starting quarterback, Tom Brady, picked up his 7th Super Bowl title that year too!

#2 – The New England Patriots go 16-0 for the season
We dare you to try and name every team that has had a perfect season since the new age of the NFL started! Well, that’s a bit of a trick question because we have named the only team that has done it in the title of this section.
In 2007, the Patriots had a clean season, one the playoffs, and the Super Bowl. That year their starting quarterback, Tom Brady, was named both Super Bowl MVP and NFL MVP.
Will we ever see another season like this again? We don’t think so.
#3 – The Catch
Most NFL fans know exactly what we’re talking about already – but for you younger fans, here is the story of The Catch.
In the 1982 NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys something incredible happened. Something that put Joe Montana’s name in the history books.
With one pass in the third down, Joe Montana made Dwight Clark catch a ball with his fingertips. The very edges of his fingertips! This catch made the score 28-27 to the 49ers and took them to the Super Bowl.
This pass is considered the start of the Niners Dynasty that lasted for most of the 1980s.
#4 – Santonio Holmes in Super Bowl XLIII
Not every great NFL moment has happened during the Super Bowl, but it is such a high stakes match that players often perform out of their skins. Super Bowl XLIII was no exception. In fact, we could make a whole Top 7 list just from this game.
We could mention the 100 yard interception touchdown that happened in this match. But the real unforgettable event in this match was Santonio Holmes scoring a six-yard touchdown in the back corner of the end zone. Somehow Holmes landed on the tip of his tip toes and kept the ball in play.
#5 – Tom Brady is drafted at 199th position
Some moments are unforgettable because they are so hard to believe – this is one of them.
Yes, Tom Brady had an awful high school football career, and his first two years at college were touchdownless. But, he had an amazing final two years that should have given teams an idea of what he was about to become.
But, for some strange reason, the 7-time Super Bowl Champion, 5-time Super Bowl MVP, 3-time NFL MVP, and all-around most decorated and successful NFL player of all time was drafted in 199th place!
The New England Patriots bagged themselves the biggest bargain ever in that draft!
#6 – The Immaculate Reception
Firstly, this event has one of the greatest names of all time. Secondly, this is one of the Top 3 best moments in NFL history.
It happened in 1972 when the Oakland Raiders were playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in a simple division game. Quarterback Terry Bradshaw passed to his rusher, John Fuqua. Sadly, there was some miscommunication between the two and the ball bounced off Fuqua.
When it seemed like all hope was lost, Franco Harris (a running back) snatched the ball out of midair and ran in the touchdown.
#7 – Minnesota isn’t done
In a 2018 division match, the Minnesota Vikings were down against the Saints. There was time for only one more play in the match. Everyone was already chalking up the Saint’s victory.
But quarterback Case Keenum wasn’t ready to go home. He made a simple, long pass to Stefon Diggs along the sideline. Diggs was making a run for the line when Marcus Williams stepped up to him.
By some sort of miracle, Williams failed to make the tackle and Diggs easily ran in the touchdown and won the game for his team.
