HUNH: Playoffs, Analytics and Spring Football

Each Thursday we take a look around the world of college football and check out some of the biggest stories, best content (and sometimes worst), videos and opinions.

With March Madness ending, the Playoff Guru takes a look at what a 16 team college football tournament might look like [story link].

Spencer Hall of EDSBS wrote a piece on what college football could learn from Turkish soccer [story link].

In our weekly HUNH, we’ve try to shine a light on at least one feel good story per week. This week we give you the story of current Auburn Tiger and cancer survivor Shon Coleman [story link]

Earlier this off-season, we touched on Georgia’s Chris Conley and his Star Wars fan movie. Martin Rickman delves a little deeper over at SI’s Campus Union [story link].

Speaking of Georgia, they are currently working on a home and home series with Notre Dame [story link]. Yes, please.

Last week, we linked to a Miami (OH) point guard who was trying his hand at college football. Not to be outdone, Oregon’s Jonathan Loyd is looking to make his mark with Marcus Mariota in the Ducks offense [story link].

SB Nation’s Bill Connelly did an interesting piece from last month on “The State of Football Stats” [story link]

Beer of the Week? I picked up a New Belgium Folly 12-pack this past weekend because the wife really likes the seasonal Snapshot (and this included three cans) and I was reminded of just how solid Fat Tire is. It’s an Amber Ale and, at least around these parts, Fat Tire is the type of beer that I’m able to get when I’m out to eat at a restaurant and all they seem to have are the watered down beers offered by the “big beer companies”. So grab a Fat Tire and if you are in the mood for something a little more daring then check out their “Lips of Faith” series.

We leave you with a quick note about Duke QB Brandon Connette. CBS Sports is reporting that Connette, who scored 27 TDs last season, has been given permission to talk with a school out West to seek a possible transfer closer to home (Corona, California) [story link]. Hmmmm…..
