One of NASCAR's biggest events on the calendar was held Sunday in Daytona. Too bad the Drive4COPD 300 apparently had a national anthem performance not quite up to par. Madison Rising, "America's Most Patriotic Band," rocked out the worst rendition of the Star Spangled Banner known to man, but don't blame me. I tried to warn you all just how bad it was going to be.
Prior to the 2012 Military Bowl.
That's right. Madison Rising has done this before a sporting event before, at least once and who knows how many other times. The band performed their rock version of the national anthem prior to the 2012 Military Bowl in RFK Stadium, before Bowling green and San Jose State kicked off. I was there covering the game, as I had done the previous few years. This was the absolute worst national anthem performance I heard at the bowl game. It was the worst national anthem I have ever heard outside of Roseanne or Carl Lewis. At least Lewis apologized for his performance.
It was horrible during sound check. It was horrible during the actual performance.
I know we aren't talking about high prestige here with the Military Bowl, but this Madison Rising national anthem performance will be awful.

Listening to the band #MadisonRising rehearsing the pre game National Anthem. Words cannot describe how awful this will be. #MilitaryBowl

Painfully it remains horrible today, as the Drive4COPD 300 showed us.
Any chance we can just ban Madison Rising from performing the national anthem before sporting events moving forward? America does not deserve this.
