During this off-season, we are taking a trip down memory lane by reliving the high points (and low points for some teams) of the 2013 college football season. So far we’ve covered weeks one, two, three and four. Now it’s time to take a look back at week five…
Here was the Top 5 entering the weekend:
5 Stanford
4 Ohio State
3 Clemson
2 Oregon
1 Alabama
and here were the biggest games (or biggest surprises)…
South Carolina 28 UCF 25
Blake Bortles, Storm Johnson and crew looked like they were headed for a win after taking a 10-0 lead into the locker room at half. South Carolina’s Mike Davis had other things in mind. Gamecocks QB Connor Shaw left the game early with an injury but Davis picked up the slack by running for three TDs and helping South Carolina escape Orlando with a W.

East Carolina 55 UNC 31
Holy Fedora! ECU’s Shane Carden threw three TD passes in the first half and this one was over early as the Pirates cruised to a shocking win over their ACC opponents.
Oklahoma 35 Notre Dame 21
In 2012, the Irish won this match-up rather easily and it put them on the path to the BCS National Championship Game. The 2013 version was quite different. The Sooners jumped out to a 14-0 lead and 21-7 half-time lead and never looked back.

Ohio State 31 Wisconsin 24
This was the first big test for the Buckeyes and they answered the bell early. The Badgers tried to come back late but Errrrrban Meyer and crew held them off.

Arizona State 62 USC 41
This is the game that ended the Lane Kiffin era at USC.
Georgia 44 LSU 41
This one featured two former teammates in Aaron Murray and Zach Mettenberger going head to head and they didn’t disappoint as this game ended up being one of the best from 2013.
