As a true freshman, UCLA LB Myles Jack was having a very good season for Jim Mora and the UCLA Bruins. After eight games, Jack had 37 solo tackles and 19 assists for an average of 7.8 total tackles per game.
On Saturday, Jack took it to the next level by also starring on the offensive side of the football. With the Bruins leading rusher (Jordon James) banged up, Mora mentioned a few weeks ago that Jack would be used on offense at some point during the season. This week, Jack took his first practice reps at RB and it paid off in spades for the Bruins on Saturday night.
On Jack's first run in the second quarter, he went for 29 yards on a 3rd and one play. He carried four more times in the second quarter on a drive that ended with QB Brett Hundley hitting WR Shaquelle Evans for a TD.
With UCLA up five in the fourth quarter, Jack's biggest touch of the game came on another 3rd and one when he took the ball 66 yards for a TD to give UCLA a 31-19 lead that they would not relinquish.
Jack finished the game with 120 yards rushing on six carries (an average of 20 yards per carry) and 1 TD. On defense, Jack finished the game with eight tackles and a fumble recovery.
It's rare for a player to be successful on both sides of the football, it's even more rare for that player to be a true freshman and that makes UCLA's Myles Jack a player to watch in the future..
