Game Day Kickoff: A look at Week 3’s midday games

Any Big Games?

No. 6 Texas A&M (2-0) vs. No. 1 Alabama (1-0), CBS (More)

You may have heard this game was taking place today. It's a pretty big one wiht the two-time defending national champs traveling to College Station tot ake on the only team to beat them in 2012 and their Heisman Trophy winning quarterback. You cannot create enough storylines for this game and it is almost a shame it takes place so early in the year as it is probably the top game we have collectively been anticipating in the 2013 season. The winner takes the lead in the SEC West standings and likely is tabbed the BCS Championship favorite, while the loser may have some slight catching up to do in both respects.

Other Ranked Teams in Action

No. 2 Oregon (2-0) vs. Tennessee (2-0), ABC

No. 10 Florida State (1-0) vs. Nevada (1-1), ESPN

Illinois (2-0) vs. No. 19 Washington (1-0), Big Ten Network (6 p.m.)

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will get a chance to follow-up on his rousing debut against Pittsburgh but Nevada has a pretty decent quarterback as well in Cody Fajardo. The Seminoles should cruise to a victory here, but Florida State is prone to a down game when you least suspect one is coming. Tennessee may be on the right track in the early stages of the Butch Jones era, but they still should be little problem for Oregon's offense in Eugene. Illinois is hosting their Chicago homecoming in Soldier Field and looking to go 3-0. To do so they will have to take down a rested Washington team.

Can Spartans find offense?

Michigan State's defense has scored twice as many touchdowns (4) as their offense (2) through the first two games of the season. Today they start Connor Cook at quarterback again in hopes of finding something (anything!) on offense against FCS Youngstown State.

Penn State, UCF in Ireland preview

Penn State and Central Florida will open the 2014 season in Ireland, but face off in Beaver Stadium today. Penn State freshman quarterback Christian Hackenberg has started both games this season on a rusty note but has calmed down and shown his potential. Central Florida has started games on a high note, outscoring opponents 48-0 before halftime. Can Blake Bortles and the Knights jumpout early and hang on against the Nittany Lions? This one kicks off at 6 pm on Big Ten Network.

FCS Upset Alert

Will we see any FCS teams upsetting FBS teams this weekend? Games to watch at this time will be Stony Brook at Buffalo and Delaware at Navy. Delaware beat Navy in Annapolis a few years ago and could do it again. Southern Utah, who has already defeated South Alabama, visits Washington State at 6:30 pm ET as well. May want to pay attention to Pac 12 Network, just in case.

Take the under in CyHawk Rivalry

Iowa visits Iowa State for the latest edition of the CyHawk rivalry. If you like to torture yourself, you can watch this one play out on FOX Sports 1 at 6pm ET.
