Any Big Games?
No. 23 Nebraska (2-0) vs. No. 16 UCLA (1-0), ABC (More)
This is actually a really good noon game on the schedule between a couple of teams with plenty of offense and conference championship hopes. Could this be a Rose Bowl preview? Probably not, but it is not exactly impossible. UCLA scored the statement win last season on the west coast and if Nebraska plays the way they did against Wyoming the Bruins could do so again. Look for lots of yards and points because these teams have the offenses to do just that and the defenses not likely to slow them down enough.
Other Ranked Teams in Action
Army (1-1) vs. No. 5 Stanford (1-0), CBS Sports Network
Kentucky (1-1) vs. No. 7 Louisville (2-0), ESPN
No. 11 Michigan (2-0) vs. Akron (1-1), Big Ten Network
No. 14 Oklahoma (2-0) vs. Tulsa (1-1), ESPN2
Not a whole lot going on in games involving other ranked teams. We should see some rather convincing wins by Stanford and Michigan, while Oklahoma and Louisville should also be able to pull away in their games against in-state opponents. Could Kentucky find an advantage against Louisville running the football?
Bowling Green looks for 3-0 start
Keep an eye on the Bowling Green Falcons. Off to a 2-0 start with really good wins against defending Conference USA champion Tulsa and Kent State, Bowling Green is on the road in Big Ten territory to take on an Indiana team capable of scoring some points. The Hoosiers were upset at home last week by Navy and could be looking to take out their frsutrations on Bowling Green, but the Falcons may be prepared for the fight. You can watch this game on ESPNU.
Logan Thomas must shine and lead Virginia Tech to win
The Hokies are off to a sluggish 1-1 start and quarterback Logan Thomas has not had a pretty start to the year. Today Virginia Tech is on the road at East Carolina, with the Pirates off to a 2-0 start and looking to pick up a bit of a statement win. Virginia Tech should have a defense to keep East Carolina contained, but can the Hokies do anything on offense? This one kicks off on FOX Sports 1.
Southern Miss losing streak watch
The nation's longest losing streak belongs to Southenr Mississippi. Entering today the Golden Eagles have lost 14 straght games (0-12 in 2012 and 0-2 to start 2013), and they travel to Arkansas. Bret Bielema's Rzorbacks are off to a 2-0 start, already halfway to 2012's win total. If Arkansas wins this one, as they should, the Southern Miss losing streak will extend to 15 games with a road game at Boise State on deck.
Battle of Unbeatens in Boulder
The floods in Boulder, Colorado will be on everyone's minds and surely are more important than a football game, but Colorado squares off with Frenso State in an early season battle of unbeatens. Colorado is 2-0 for the first time since 2009 and although the wins have come against Colorado State and Central Arkansas, we are seeing some good things from the struggling program early on. Today they go up Fresno State, a team that should thrive passing the football against the Buffs. This one kicks off at 2 p.m. ET on the Pac 12 Network and could be surprisingly entertaining.
