At this point, we’ve basically run out of ways to say “Alabama is really good at this whole football thing.” That tends to happen after a team wins three titles in four years (let alone does it in the current climate of college football), finishes with three of the last four top ranked recruiting classes, and just graduated a class that won a staggering 50 games.
So yeah, I guess what we’re trying to say is that it ain’t bad to be Nick Saban these days.
Yet over the past few weeks, the rich have incredibly, somehow got richer. That’s because in addition to all the on the field accolades, the program also just got a major upgrade off the field too, with a sparkling new $9 million strength and conditioning facility that’s just about ready for opening. According to reports the facility is for all Alabama student-athletes, and features just about every amenity a 19-year-old athlete could ever dream of (Including yes, even a juice and nutrition bar. Only at Alabama, huh?).
Regardless, on Wednesday reporters got their first tour of the new facility and along with all the bells and whistles we already knew about, comes one more we didn’t: A very clever sign which reads as follows:
“Sweat Is Just Your Fat Crying.”
The picture above was posted by our good friend Alex Scarborough of TideNation.com, and apparently sits smack dab in the middle of the new facility.
Who came up with this snazzy saying?
Who’s to say? But if we had to take a guess, we’d probably say it’s strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran, a man who has already proven time and time again to be a certifiably insane man. That is of course, if the quote wasn’t a brainchild of Saban himself.
Regardless, anyone else think it’s possible that “Sweat Is Just Your Fat Crying” to be the new rallying for the 2013 Crimson Tide? Think it could possibly replace “The Process” as Saban’s go-to catch phrase?
Only time will tell.
But if Alabama does with a fourth National Championship in five years, we’ll know where it all began: In the weight room, and with that sign.
