2013 Final Bloguin Heisman Poll

All eyes will be on New York this weekend as the 2013 Heisman Trophy is awarded to the top player in college football. Our first poll of the year was way back after week five. At that point, Johnny Manziel was in the pole position and he was followed by Marcus Mariota, Tajh Boyd, Aaron Murray and Teddy Bridgewater. Through the twists and turns of the season, only one of those players was among the six that have been invited to the Heisman announcement in New York. Johnny Manziel will be joined by Jordan Lynch, Tre Mason, AJ McCarron, Andre Williams and Jameis Winston. Here's how our voters see the Heisman playing out on Saturday…..

What you'll see each week in the Bloguin Heisman Poll:

* The top total vote getters and quotes from bloggers in support of their candidate

* A list of all players receiving votes

* Poll notes that look at some interesting facts, figures and trends of the poll

* The BHP Roll Call of voters, the links to their respective blogs and twitter accounts

Without any further adieu, the Bloguin Heisman Poll…

1) Jameis Winston (QB- FSU)- 27 points, 45.00% of votes, 9 first place votes

Last Week BHP Ranking: #1

Last Week: 19 of 32 for 330 yds with 3 TD and 2 INT, 59 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD

Season: 237 of 349 for 3,820 yds passing (67.9% completions) with 38 TD and 10 INT, 193 yds rushing, 1 rushing TD

* At this point in the year it is clear there can only be one player worthy of receiving the Heisman Trophy for the 2013 season. To think otherwise is overthinking it in an attempt to go against the grain. Jameis Winston has been the best player every time he stepped on the field each and every week of the season, from his stellar debut on the road against Pittsburgh in week one to his ACC Championship Game performance against Duke on Saturday and every game in between. If the ACC Championship Game was his worst performance of the year, that is a mighty fine season hat no player in the country can compare to in terms of consistency.

* Can you only invite one player to the Heisman ceremony? With the sexual assault investigation finally cleared up, this is as much of a runaway Heisman race as I've ever seen. He's dominated each and every week this season, and is the face of Florida State's return to glory. Criticize the schedule all you want, but the Seminoles have had teams with national championship caliber talent in recent years but still found ways to lose games they shouldn't have. Winston did not allow this team to do that. He is a consummate leader, and has already become one of the all-time greats at Florida State.

2) Tre Mason (RB- Auburn) – 9 points, 15.00% of votes

Last Week BHP Ranking: #6

Last Week: 46 rushes for 304 yards with 4 TDs

Season: 283 rushes for 1,621 yards with 22 TDs, 1 kick-off return for a TD (in 15 attempts)

3) Jordan Lynch (QB- Northern Illinois) – 6 points, 10.0% of votes

Last Week BHP Ranking: #2

Last Week: 21 of 40 passing for 219 yards passing with 1 TD and 2 INT, 126 yards rushing with 2 rushing TDs

Season: 233 of 369 (63.1%) for 2,676 yards with 23 TD and 7 INT, 1,881 yards rushing, 22 rushing TD, 1 reception for 17 yards and a TD

Poll Notes

– In our final poll of 2012 we had Johnny Manziel as the winner with 36.36% of the vote and his runner-up Manti Te'o receiving 28.79% of the vote.

– In our final poll of 2011 poll, winner RG3 received 45.56% of the vote with his runner-up, Montee Ball of Wisconsin, receiving 18.89% of the vote.

– This year, Jameis Winston didn't receive as much of the popular vote as RG3 did in 2011, but he won by the largest amount (30%) in the the three years since I've been hosting this poll.

– Winston made 9 out of 10 ballots and on those 9 ballots he was voted #1 on every ballot.

– Alabama's AJ McCarron received the only first place vote that was not given to Winston.

– The only candidate besides Winston to be listed on more than half the ballots was Auburn's Tre Mason. He was on 7 of the 10 ballots with two second-place votes and five third-place votes.
