2013 Bloguin Heisman Poll: Week Eleven

Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston and Johnny Manziel have been jockeying for Heisman pole position over the last few weeks. With a high profile game against Stanford this past week, Mariota had a chance to increase his lead. But, it was not to be as his Ducks fell to Stanford 20-16. That loss greatly effects this weeks standings. Did the voters side with Winston or Manziel and who else stepped up into the race?

What you'll see each week in the Bloguin Heisman Poll:

* The top total vote getters and quotes from bloggers in support of their candidate

* A list of all players receiving votes

* Poll notes that look at some interesting facts, figures and trends of the poll

* The BHP Roll Call of voters, the links to their respective blogs and twitter accounts

Without any further adieu, the Bloguin Heisman Poll…

1) Jameis Winston (QB- FSU)- 24 points, 44.44% of votes, 7 first place votes

Last Week BHP Ranking: #2

Last Week: 17 of 28 for 159 yds with 2 TD and 1 INT

Season: 166 of 240 for 2,661 yds passing (69.2% completions) with 26 TD and 7 INT, 157 yds rushing, 3 rushing TD

This Week: vs Syracuse (5-4)

* It's very hard to win the Heisman Trophy and it's extremely easy to lose it. All it takes is one subpar performance this late in the season to knock a contender right out of the race. That's what happened to Marcus Mariota, but Winston refuses to offer up a letdown like that. FSU is simply manufacturing blowout week after week, thanks in no small part to Winston's consistently magnificent play. The trophy is his to lose.

– Josh Parcell, Crystal Ball Run

2) Johnny Manziel (QB- Texas A&M) – 16 points, 29.63% of votes

Last Week BHP Ranking: #3

Last Week: 30 of 39 passing for 446 yards with 5 TD and 3 INT, 47 yards rushing

Season: 315 attempts/230 completions (73.0%) for 3,313 yards passing with 31 TD and 11 INT, 611 yds rushing and 8 rushing TDs

This Week: bye

* Manziel is still the most electrifying player in all of college football. Remember, he's still the only player to do anything meaningful on offense against Alabama. For Manziel to do what he's doing after a summer of distractions (admittedly caused by himself), against the country's top competition in the SEC, Manziel is the most outstanding player in the country and deserves a second Heisman.

– Jonathan Biles, Crystal Ball Run

3) AJ McCarron (QB- Alabama) – 7 points, 12.96% of votes

Last Week BHP Ranking: Not Ranked

Last Week: 14 of 20 passing for 179 yards and 3 TD with 0 INT

Season: 159 of 229 (69.4%) for 2,041 yards with 19 TD and 3 INT

This Week: at Mississippi State (4-5)

Also receiving votes: Bryce Petty (QB- Baylor) 3 pts; Jordan Lynch (QB- NIU) 2 pts; Marcus Mariota (QB- Oregon) 2 pts

Poll Notes

– This week only one candidate was listed on every single ballot, the leader Jameis Winston.

– In our 2011 poll, Andrew Luck stayed on top of the poll in a very close race. Luck had 25.88% of the vote, Brandon Weeden had 23.53% and Trent Richardson had 18.82%.

– In our 2012 poll, after week eleven Collin Klein looked to have a firm grasp on the Heisman as he had 48.33% of the vote. Manti Te'o remained in second at 16.67% and Johnny Manziel and Kenyon Barner tied for third.

– Who to keep an eye on this week? Jordan Lynch of NIU. He has a high profile MAC game against Ball State and has a chance to make an impression on the voters.

– Another player to watch? How bout Myles Jack of UCLA. The freshman LB played both ways last week and had over 100 yards rushing in the Bruins victory.
