It’s hard to imagine any college football coach being on the hot seat just two years after winning a National Championship, except down on the Plains, Gene Chizik’s seat only seems to be growing warmer every single Saturday his team takes the field. His 0-2 start got the critics howling, and an overtime escape against UL-Monroe last week hardly helped matters either.
Simply put, Chizik is squarely on the hot seat. And a fan of one of his rivals decided to have some fun with the Auburn head coach this morning.
That’s because, as you can see from the video above, an Alabama fan jokingly believes “The Dark Chiz… Is Rising.” The video came to us courtesy of the Twitter account @BassinDawg.
Yes, this is a spoof of the “Dark Knight” Batman, and no, I don’t actually think that the ‘Bama fan believes Chizik is “rising” as much as he is going down in flames.
As you can see, the ‘Bama fan used some creative editing, with Chizik taking on the role of Bruce Wayne, with Brian Van Gorder playing Commissioner Gordon, and Les Miles the role of Bane. The video cleverly splices together scenes from the actual movie, with actual game footage from earlier this year, and you’ll also see that the editor took some creative, artistic liberty with photo shop as well.
My personal favorite part?
When Anne Hathaway’s character (now played by Dan Mullen) whispers into the ear of Chizik:
“You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it all hits, you’re all going to wonder how you ever lived so large, and leave so little for the rest of us.”
Hmm, you think that is just coincidental? Or that it might have a deeper, Cam Newton-fueled meaning to it?
Oh college football fans, you’re the greatest.
