The Misery Continues For LSU…On The Basketball Court

In case you hadn’t heard, LSU and Alabama played a football game on Monday night, and well, it was ugly… at least if you’re an LSU fan. The Tigers were on the wrong end of one of the most statistically dominant bowl performances in the sport’s history, courtesy of a hungry and uber-talented Alabama defense.

For those of you who didn’t catch the game (which is probably no one who reads this site), the box score was either a sight for sore eyes to LSU fans, or worth framing and hanging over the fireplace for ‘Bama fans. The Tigers- a team which averaged over 38 points and 300 yards of offense in going 13-1 during the regular season- were held to zero points and just 93 yards of total offense. Not too shabby for the Tide considering that LSU had scored a combined 83 points in their previous two games…against two teams (Arkansas and Georgia) which combined to win 21 games during the 2011 season.

Regardless, the strong defense displayed Monday is a point of pride in Tuscaloosa right now, and something that has actually extended well beyond the white lines of the gridiron.

That’s because Alabama and LSU followed up their low-scoring, defense football affair on Monday night with a rematch on the hardwood Wednesday, in another game that the Crimson Tide dominated from start to finish. Alabama jumped out to a 31-19 halftime lead, before cruising to a 16 point victory, and in the process, holding LSU to just 35 percent shooting in the game.

That’s the story. However the story behind the story were the Alabama fans on Wednesday night, who were still having fun at the expense of the Bayou Bengals.

As the video below shows, fans had fun with Tigers, holding up creative signs and mocking LSU upon getting the ball past half-court. As you may remember, the Tigers football team had trouble simply getting past mid-field on Monday night, something which apparently Crimson Tide fans haven’t forgotten.

Regardless, just watch the video. Unless you’re in an LSU fan, in which case it might be a better idea to hide under your bed.

Enjoy.
