Morning Playbook – College football playoff plans begin forming in Chicago

Starting today the commissioners of the BCS will meet in Chicago with the intent to start putting together the details that will determine how the upcoming playoff structure will be assembled. Among the primary issues to settle on is the financial distribution between conferences [CBS Sports], which should be interesting to watch.

On a related note, the Orange Bowl and the ACC could be one step closer to working out a deal to field an opponent for the ACC champion, including options from the Big Ten, SEC and, yes, even Notre Dame. [ESPN]. This would obviously be a dose of bad news for the Big East, still with no lucrative bowl tie-in for their conference champion (Hello, Fiesta Bowl?). But I cannot say I am surprised the Orange Bowl would be weighing these possibilities to bring in a second-place Big Ten or SEC team. After all, I suggested it back in July.
