Morning Playbook – Bobby Bowden watches college football on an iPad

West Virginia is getting ready for the Big 12.

Is anybody surprised that Bobby Bowden wants to be a part of the potential BCS selection committee to voice his say on who should play for a national championship? Probably not, but Bowden has confirmed he would be interested. The elder Bowden still watches the sport on a regular basis and he also is keeping up with the latest trends.

“I would be willing to serve on it,” Bowden said Tuesday. “I think ex-coaches have a lot of wisdom. I watch the games. And I watch the game films on my iPad.”

That’s right. Bowden watches game son his iPad. We wonder if he is sneaking ina  game or two of Angry Birds on the commercial breaks and updating his Words With Friends games at halftime.

The Mountain West Conference officially takes a spot in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The conference will pit one school against Navy in the 2013 game and will square off against a team from Conference USA this upcoming season.

Former Wisconsin offensive lineman Peter Konz was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor.

Off of the football field, the big news is that the trial of Jerry Sandusky is officially underway. Juror selection started yesterday, and included one Penn State senior, one ex professor and one longtime Penn State season ticket holder. Also, Sandusky reportedly sent love letters to one of the victims outlined in the grand jury presentment as Victim 4.

This is completely unrelated to football, but is worth the click just for the image of Wisconsin’s mascot in a row boat on Madtown Badgers.
