Week six of the college football season proved to be a separation Saturday for many of the top teams as FSU, Georgia, LSU and Texas all fell from the ranks of the unbeaten. Our Heisman front-runner, Geno Smith, had another great performance this weekend as his Mountaineers toppled the Longhorns. Would he be able to separate even more from his competitors?

1) Geno Smith (QB-WVU) – 36 Points, 48.00%, 10 1st Place Votes
Last Week: 25/35, 268 yds, 4 TD
Season: 166/204, 1996 yards, 24 TDs, 0 INT; 1 rushing TD, 81.4% completions
This Week: at Texas Tech
*I don't know what's more incredible: That with a four-touchdown, 268 yard performance against Texas, Smith now has 24 touchdown passes total, which is six more than his closest competitor (with an interception, mind you). Or that for Smith, a four-touchdown, 268-yard performance is considered to be somewhat of a disappointment. Either way, this is Smith's trophy to lose, and that doesn't appear to be changing any time soon.

*With the win in Austin, Geno Smith crossed a huge “legitimacy” threshold. He led his team into the crucible of the Big XII and came out with a victory. He came, he saw, he conquered.

Season: 83 of 135 for 1060 yds passing, 9 passing TD, 3 INT, 763 yds rushing, 8 rush TD
This Week: at Indiana
*Setting school record for rushing and leading an offense that hit over 60 points in the Big Ten? Color me impressed. There isn't a player that means more to his team or is a better all-around player in my book.

Season: 63/94 for 892 yds passing, 7 passing TD, 2 INT, 67% completions, 410 yds rushing, 7 rushing TD
This Week: at Iowa State
*I'm keeping Klein in the top spot this week because I consider him the most valuable player in the nation. He is what makes an otherwise very limited KSU offense go.

*Clowney's performance last week against Georgia showed that he is without a doubt the most dynamic defensive player in the Nation. In a year where offensive players aren't really making their mark it only makes sense for a dominant defensive player to be strongly considered for the Heisman.

*Manti Te'o is an inspiration to his team and is proving in his final season in South Bend to be the leader of a tough defense. It's hard to imagine Te'o not getting a lot of votes if the Irish reach a BCS Bowl.

Poll Notes
– Last year after week six, Andrew Luck was the leader in our poll with 26.04% of the total votes, which represented a 4.17% increase over the prior week. Russell Wilson remained in second place with Kellen Moore finished third in the voting. Some guy named RGIII fell to fourth place with 8.33% of the overall vote and 0 first place votes.
– For the third consecutive week, Geno Smith increased his overall percentage of the vote moving from 46.05% to 48.0% despite losing one first place vote.
– Braxton Miller is starting to make believers of the voters as he jumped over Collin Klein and increased his overall percentage by 13.44%.
– Geno Smith and the Mountaineers travel to Lubbock this weekend to play a Texas Tech team that should be able to put some points on the board. Look for Smith and WVU to put up some big offensive numbers.
– Braxton Miller is licking his chops this weekend as the Buckeyes take on the worst defense in the B1G as they travel to Indiana.
– Collin Klein and the Wildcats will travel to Iowa State this weekend to take on a Cyclone team that has only allowed two rushing TDs so far this season.
– How will our defensive representatives, Clowney and Te'o, fare this week? They will both be in the National spotlight this week as they play in key games this weekend.
