Les Miles Comes To The College Gameday Set

For all the things that ESPN does that annoys the hell out of us (the Longhorn Network, #FreeBruce, their entire Baseball Tonight staff), it’s easy to forget that they do in fact do quite a bit of good work.

Some of their best, and most creative stuff comes from their marketing staff, which consistently pumsp out home run advertisements and promos for upcoming events and shows. In particular, some of the “This Is Sports Center Commercials,” have been absolutely hysterical.

But maybe nowhere is there better work done than with their College Gameday commercials. The combination of the quirky Gameday team (that we’ve all come to know and love), and the strong personalities of major Division I coaches, almost always makes for some good, quality old-fashioned self-deprecating humor. Amongst others, last year’s commercials featured Nick Saban and Mack Brown playing Jenga as well as Boise’s blue-turf lovin’ Chris Petersen.

Well this year, the Gameday guys are back, and on Thursday, they revealed some of their promos for the 2011 season.

This one with Les Miles, instantly gets vaulted into the ESPN College Gameday Hall of Fame.

Just because Miles might head to Dallas next week without his starting quarterback, doesn’t mean that he doesn’t come bearing gifts.

As for LSU’s opponent in Week 1? Well, apparently Chip Kelly has plenty up his sleeve as well (You know, despite wearing a sleeveless windbreaker)
