Five Burning Questions: Michigan Wolverines

Having kicked Rich Rodriguez to the curb last winter, the Michigan Wolverines went back to the “Michigan man” well and fished out Brady Hoke. The Maize and Blue have rolled out to a fast 5-0 start in Hoke’s first year behind talented quarterback Denard Robinson and look like legitimate contenders to win whichever Big Ten division they’re in.

Who better to fill us is on the situation in Ann Arbor than Brian Cook, the brains behind the popular Wolverine-centric site MGoBlog. Time for Cook to take a spin on the hot seat before his Wolverines take a trip to Ryan Field this weekend and put their unblemished record on the line against Northwestern.

1. To this point, what has most impressed you about Michigan’s transition under Brady Hoke?

Recruiting. Even before Ohio State turned into a flaming sinkhole he was punching at their weight; he’s done well against ND and annihilated MSU. The coordinators are also excellent but the recruiting is what you build your program on when you’re a CEO style coach.

2. Flip the script: Most disappointing aspect?

Uh… they don’t use the spread punt?

3. Seeing as Michigan is just now playing its first road game, do those skeptical of the Wolverines’ 5-0 start have a right to be, um, skeptical about the quality of this team?

I know, I know, the last two years.

But now they have not insanity on both sides of the ball and they’re playing in a turrible, turrilbe league.

It’s not Wisconsin, but given the quality of the Big Ten this year, there’s no reason they can’t win nine or 10 games.

4. Is Denard Robinson going to be in New York for the Heisman ceremony? (And by that I mean will he be invited as a finalist? I don’t care about his Christmas break plans.)

Yes. He won’t win. He’ll be there.

5. Better: a Michigan man or the Marlboro Man?

SMOKING IS EVIL.
