Saturday Notebook: Verne Lundquist Welcomes You To Week 4

Items of interest to get you ready for today’s action:

* The biggest game, with the most meaningful implications is pretty clearly Arkansas at Alabama. The loser falls behind the eight-ball in the SEC West, and with each still having to play some combination of LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn, neither can afford a loss.

Regardless, CBS has sent their No. 1 crew to T-Town today, including of course, Verne Lundquist, pictured to the left (Picture from the Tusacaloosa news, and thanks to Tuscaloosa’s Chad W. for sending that in)

* College Gameday is at West Virginia today, and for those of you in attendance, we’re waiting to see your best signs.

The best ones reported so far:

“I planned on bringing two more sings but the ACC stole them.”

“I’d burn my couch, but Rich Rod has been crashing on it.”

“Come at me Breaux.” (In honor of Jersey Shore, of course).

* Around the rest of the country, there are plenty of other interesting matchups, including Oklahoma State-Texas A&M, Oregon-Arizona and Notre Dame-Pitt

* Stay up late to see the two best teams in the Pac-12 South when USC travels to Arizona State. Of course the most fascinating (and some would say) fun subplot here would be if the Trojans were to somehow win the game and take control of the division. You know, since they can’t play in the Pac-12 Championship Game and all.

Otherwise, just be sure to follow @CrystalBallRun as well as writers @Aaron_Torres, @Blatanthomerism and @Inthebleachers for updates all day. Also, writers @KevinonCFB will be on site at Penn State and our own Tom Perry will be at West Virginia-LSU later this evening.

And check back tomorrow, where we’ll have all our Sunday morning recap stuff!

Enjoy the games!
