HUNH: It’s getting drafty in here

Each Thursday we take a look around the world of college football and check out some of the biggest stories, best content (and sometimes worst), videos and opinions.

The NFL Draft starts today, so let’s get our draft links out of the way first….

Grantland has a piece on the smallest player in this year’s draft, Oregon State’s Brandin Cooks. [story link]

The Solid Verbal’s Dan Rubenstein conducts a QB Camp of his own with Georgia’s Aaron Murray. Unlike Jon Gruden’s camp, this one tests Aaron’s mental ability through board games. [story link]

ESPN has some NFL draft comparisons. I bet you can’t guess who they compare Johnny Manziel to… [story link]

Yahoo goes under the microscope to check out Oregon’s De’Anthony Thomas. [story link]

NFL.com has the best and worst picks for the first 32 draft slots over the last 10 years. All I can say is that for DeAngelo Hall to be the best #8 pick in the last ten years, there must have been some really crappy #8’s picked… [story link]

Awful Announcing has a piece on Missouri’s Michael Sam rejecting ESPN and NFL Network coverage for this weekend. [story link]

Most people are all mocked out so instead check out Kris Z’s big board of top 100 prospects [story link]

If you feel like you are out of the loop and not ready for this years draft, head over to Optimum Scouting and throw down a few bones for their draft guide. [story link]

moving on from the draft….

A couple of weeks ago, I touched on Tennessee moving their opener with Utah State to a Sunday [story link]. I mentioned that the game could come down to the two quarterbacks in the game. Bleacher Report’s Adam Kramer goes further in depth on the Aggies starting QB Chuckie Keeton, who will be returning from injury this season. [story link]

Our own managing editor, Kevin McGuire (AKA @KevinonCFB), has a couple of interesting stories worth checking out from this week. The first is questioning whether any teams may drop down from the FBS level in this ever changing landscape of college football [story link] and the second is looking at the ideal spots for each conference championship game [story link].

The Georgia State Panthers are looking to turn the current Atlanta Braves home (the Braves will be moving to the burbs) into a football stadium. [story link]

Former Marshall and Georgia head coach Jim Donnan’s ponzi scheme trial is underway. [story link]

The feel good story of the week is a video of Teddy Bridgewater surprising his mom, a cancer survivor, with a pink Escalade.

Penn State’s Herb Hand is making sure that he is everywhere this off-season…..

For the pop culture minute check out comedian Patton Oswalt and his deleted tweet experiment [story link]. If you don’t like that, how about Patton pitching an action movie idea to The Rock on Twitter [story link].

Fun link of the week….How about a dad who built a 180ft rollercoaster in his backyard for his son? [story link]

Beer of the Week? I’m a sucker for a good local brew and I’m lucky enough to be in between Athens and Atlanta which means that I have access to some of the best up and coming breweries in the country. One of those breweries, Terrapin, has been around for a bit but is always coming up with new and interesting brews. I’m personally not a huge fan of IPA’s but I was very impressed with Terrapin’s latest IPA, Hi-5 IPA, which is a California style. For those in Terrapin’s distribution network this is a great beer to try out while you are watching the draft this weekend or take with you to the pool or beach this summer.
