One of racing’s big stars is going to give Texas A&M some added publicity at an upcoming race. Jeff Gordon will have a car sporting the familiar colors of Texas A&M in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. So, why is this happening? It’s all about connections.
Axalta Coating Systems is a sponsor for Gordon. Axalta’s chairman and CEO, Charles W. Shaver, is a Texas A&M alum. Shaver is an alum of Texas A&M’s engineering school and he took it upon himself to help arrange the partnership to have a high profile car shaded Texas A&M maroon with a Texas A&M logo on the side.
The car will be driven at Texas Motor Speedway on April 6 in the Texas 500 Spring Cup. The Dallas Morning News adds Gordon is expected to color coordinate his racing suit. Here’s hoping he gets a Texas A&M racing helmet to go with the ensemble.
