Heisman Moment: Winning the 2012 Heisman Trophy.
To me, Manziel is the most questionable of all of the invites to New York for the Heisman Trophy presentation. It's not that Manziel is not a great player, because he is but he just didn't have the same season last year as he did this season.
Hampered by injuries, Manziel was forced to stay in the pocket more this year and his rushing yardage decreased by 724 yards from his Heisman season and he ran for 13 less TDs.
In addition to a decrease in statistics, Manziel and Texas A&M had a decrease in performance on the field. Last season the Aggies went 3-2 against Top 25 teams and knocked off the top team in the Nation, Alabama, in November to boost Manziel into Heisman contention. This season, the Aggies went 0-4 against Top 25 teams and limped to the finish with losses against LSU and Missouri in their final two games (scoring an average of just 15.5 points in those two losses).
I think Manziel is a fantastic college quarterback but anybody who voted for him for Heisman this season is doing so based on reputation and is overlooking more deserving candidates. Manziel and A&M had a disappointing season and I'm not exactly sure why he will be in New York for the Heisman presentation.
