When the TCU Horned Frogs and LSU Tigers tussle on Aug. 31 at JerryWorld, the Horned Frogs will be playing with a big man down. Devonte Fields, the Big 12's defensive newcomer of the year in 2012, will sit for violating those mysterious unspecified team rules.
The Bayou Bengals, on the other hand, currently have running back Jeremy Hill in the fold. That would be the same Jeremy Hill who was already on probation before having his sentence extended recently by two two years for sucker-punching someone outside of a bar in Baton Rouge earlier this year. LSU coach Les Miles turned Hill's status with the team over to his players, who voted to keep the talented runner on the squad.
The difference in how the two coaches are handling their respective disciplinary situations isn't lost on TCU head coach Gary Patterson:
"My whole team would vote Devonte (Fields) to be back on the team because they all want to win," Patterson said. "That doesn't teach life lessons."
Note that Miles can still opt to suspend Hill for the contest. Even so, this game just got a lot more interesting.
