Ole Miss Offensive Lineman killed in tragic car accident

On Wednesday afternoon the University of Mississippi football team lost a member of it's family as Park Stevens was tragically killed in a car accident.

“Our team is hurting tonight with the loss of Park," Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze said via statement. "He was a tremendous young man that was loved by his teammates and coaches, and Rebel Nation will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stevens’ family, his friends, our team and all those he touched during his life.”

Stevens, just 20 years old, was a walk-on – joining the team this spring after spending two seasons at East Central Community College.

According to published reports Stevens' truck ran into the back of a semi that was trying to cross a four lane highway in Mississippi.

Even though Stevens has been with the team a short time he clearly had an impact on those he grew close to in that time, with roommate Robert Conyers saying the following via Twitter:

The crash is still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol and more details will be released as the investigation is completed.
