Last weekend Penn State students danced the hours away to raise a record $12.3 million to support pediatric cancer research. The annual dance marathon, THON, eclipsed an all-time total of $100 million raised for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. It is an annual event at Penn State like few others, and everybody gets involved. That includes the freshmen football players and head coach Bill O'Brien.
O'Brien did not dance, unfortunately (?), but was one of the many to provide a quick pep talk to the thousands crammed in to the Bryce Jordan Center this weekend. O'Brien commented on how special a place he believes Penn State to be and thanked the students for their hard work in raising an incredible amount of money for a worthy cause. After his brief comments O'Brien led the students in a cheer and walked off the stage. It was sort of a drop mic moment.
Representatives from a number of organizations on Penn State's campus also get a chance to show off an organized dance, including the sports teams. The Penn State freshmen put on a show of their own, wearing their road white jerseys (no names on the back, by the way).
