Oregon’s Chip Kelly off to the NFL’s Eagles

After spending time earlier in January flirting with the NFL it was assumed that Oregon head coach Chip Kelly was staying in Eugene. He wasn't being named for any of the jobs still up for grabs, but now it appears he is off to the NFL after all…. at least according to Jay Glazer.

So, now what for the Ducks? Well, they will be promoting offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich to their head coaching position.

Kelly was 46-7 in his 4 seasons at the helm of the Ducks after coming to them from New Hampshire where he led the Wildcats offense from 1999-2006. He was the offensive coordinator at Oregon from 2007-2008 before taking over as the head coach as well.

It was a widely held thought that after not being initially named for the Eagles job that he was returning to the Ducks and had removed his interest in going to the NFL, but clearly that is not the case.
