For Entertainment Purposes Only: Week 13

money on fire

This season has been a disaster for me. Fade these immediately.

Oklahoma State (+8.5) at Oklahoma

Once upon a time, the Sooners would have wiped the floor with their Bedlam rivals. Bob Stoops' teams used to salivate, Pavlovian-styles, at the thought of taking revenge on a squad that embarrassed them the year before. But that was then.

OU got a nice comeback win last week on the road at West Virginia, but the Sooners' disturbing lack of a killer instinct – and lack of an competent defensive front – fit right in with the make-up of this team.

OU has surrendered its vaunted home field advantage, going 1-3 against the spread and losing two games outright. Even worse, OSU's balanced spread scheme is of the vintage that has given the Sooners fits this season.

Pick: Put a little something on the 'dog outright.

Rice at UTEP (-1)

Mike Price is calling it a career after this game. His team has nothing to play for but the coach's pride, but I think that will be enough.

Pick: Price rolls out with one last win.

Mississippi State at Ole Miss (-1.5)

The danger here is that the Rebels are feeling blue after a tough loss to LSU a week ago. For the Egg Bowl, though? No way.

Ole Miss is simply the better team.

Pick: Hugh Freeze is a rich man's Dan Mullen.

South Carolina at Clemson (-3.5)

Oddly enough, we have yet to really witness a Clemsoning this year. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Pick: Don't make a fool of me, Dabo.

Notre Dame at USC (+6.5)

With how Matt Barkley has been playing, any chance Max Wittek will be an upgrade? Lane Kiffin has been a disaster this season, but shouldn't this line be higher, all things considered?

Pick: Southern Cal nearly knocks off No. 1.
