If you took time to be a good American Tuesday night to watch the Presidential debates, you may have missed a fun game in the Sun Belt Conference. That's right, the Tuesday Night Battle of the Belts debuted last night and it packed a punch when it comes to late game drama.
North Texas 30, Louisiana-Lafayette 23 (Recap) – Down 20-6 early in the third quarter, North Texas stormed back to hand the Ragin' Cajuns their first loss in Sun Belt play. Antoinne Jimmerson caught a pair of touchdown passes in the second half to lead the rally, and his 78-yard touchdown catch from Derek Thompson with 1:54 to play gave North Texas an exhilarating lead, which the defense was able to hold on to. The Mean Green recovered a fumble on Louisiana-Lafayette's ensuing possession to clinch the win.
Ragin' Cajun quarterback Terrance Broadway had himself a game as well, passing for 265 yards and a touchdown, and his 75-yard touchdown run was one of the highlights of the night.

Yesterday brought about a number of scheduling notes for college football. Virginia Tech and East Carolina extended their series through 2020, a series that was thought to be put on hold with the ACC moving to a nine-game conference schedule but was saved with the conference sticking with an eight-game schedule with their Notre Dame deal. North Carolina and Minnesota canceled their home-and-home series for 2013-2014. The Tar Heels and East Carolina swapped home dates in a pair of upcoming games and North Carolina also picked up a future game against future Conference USA member Old Dominion for 2013, two years before the Monarchs make their realignment move. Minnesota will also open their 2013-2016 seasons on Thursday nights after reaching a deal with the Minnesota State Fair. Idaho is nearly complete putting together their independent schedule for 2013. Temple and Charlotte have also agreed to a home-and-home series in 2015 and 2016.
