Week five of the college football season is over and many will remember it as the week the defense forgot. Geno Smith came into the week as our Heisman front runner from last week and he had huge game against the Baylor Bears. With top contender Collin Klein on a bye last week, would our voters by impressed enough with anybody else to put them as Geno's top rival?

Season: 141/169, 1728 yards, 20 TDs, 0 INT; 1 rushing TD, 83.4% completions
This Week: at No. 11 Texas
*I have no problem switching my 1 and 2 from a week ago. Shoot, anyone who throws 8 TDs in a game deserves the top spot. West Virginia's biggest disadvantage could be Smith's biggest advantage come Heisman Trophy time. See, WVU needed those 8 touchdowns as their defense gave up 63 points to RG3-less Baylor. If West Virginia keeps this up, Geno will be pushed to have big days to win games. The 'Neers will head to Austin this week for a showdown with Texas which could cement his name on top of the board.

*Geno Smith's ridiculous performance against Baylor caught the attention of about anyone who has ever watched a game. Big stars like LeBron James were tweeting their praise, while Smith was picking apart the Bears' defense. While there are all type of stories about how the Heisman is Geno's to lose, it could actually be the WVU defense that loses it for him. This week's game at Texas will be critical in his Heisman campaign.

*Threw and rushed for over a hundred yards each on Saturday, to lead Ohio State to their fifth straight win. Simply put, the Buckeyes aren't 5-0 without him.

*Manuel may not have the touchdown numbers, but he is a dynamic player who is an accurate passer. If he can keep doing his thing and the Seminoles keep winning, there is no reason that he shouldn't be in the conversation.

This Week: vs No. 23 Washington
*De’Anthony Thomas’ performance has slipped of late, and teammate Kenjon Barner’s stats have improved, but don’t count him out too early. Thomas will continue to get his touches and his explosiveness will give opponents matchup problems every week.

*The Fighting Irish were idle this week but T'eo has been pivotal in Notre Dame's resurgence this season and has helped the Irish claim the third best scoring defense in the Nation at this point in the season.

Poll Notes
– Last year after week five, Andrew Luck was the leader in our poll with 26.04% of the total votes. Russell Wilson was second and some guy named RGIII was third.
– With his huge offense output against Baylor, Geno Smith gained 16.23% of the total vote.
– Despite being idle, Collin Klein was able to maintain his second place stature and kept the same percentage of votes as he had last week.
– Geno Smith steps up in competition this week as he and his teammates travel to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns. The Horns gave up 301 yards passing last week to Oklahoma State's freshman QB.
– Collin Klein and the Wildcats take on their in-state rivals the Kansas Jayhawks this week. Kansas is eighth in the Big 12 in total defense and gave up 487 yards to TCU in week three.
– Braxton Miller and the Buckeyes take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers this week. In week two, the Huskers gave up 344 yards rushing to UCLA. Will Braxton be able to take advantage of this apparent weakness?
– EJ Manuel takes on an NC State squad that is fresh off of allowing 565 yards passing to the Miami Hurricanes.
