I have said it before and I'll say it again. It is darn good to have Mike Leach back in college football, and it seems he gives us a new reason to love him every day. He is never afraid to share his opinions and thought son anything, and yesterday was no exception.
The Internet was buzzing with the news that Washington brought a live tiger out to practice this week to prepare their players for what they will see this weekend when they visit LSU. The idea was to ensure the players would not be fazed by the sight of a live tiger on the sidelines, even if in a cage, but the viral sensationalism of the news had to have been planned out as well. Remember, Washington is very proactive in social media and one of the best at utilizing their social networking skills. The college football world knows that the Huskies probably stand little chance against the LSU Tigers this weekend, but hey, we're talking about Washington positively right now and that's a good thing.
As Leach was talking to the media yesterday about his team, the Washington State Cougars, the pirate was asked for his reaction and thoughts about bringing a live tiger to practice.
"I think it would be impressive if they let that tiger out of the cage," Leach said. He had another idea though. "The other thing they could have done was they could have stuck a husky in there with that tiger and let that husky out-duel that tiger inside that cage and that would send a message to everybody."
Of course, the natural follow-up to that question was who he would put his money on in that match-up. Who would Leach like? Watch the following clip to find out (fast forward to the 3:25 mark for the quotes).
