This one may have caught some people off guard, but the nation’s number one player is heading to… Clemson.

Defensive end Robert Nkemdiche’s decision to go to Clemson, of course, will not become official until he signs his National Letter of Intent next February, but it is fantastic news for the Clemson Tigers, who have been putting the rest of the ACC on notice with recent recruiting classes. You almost have to wonder if Dabo Swinney and the powers that be at Clemson knew this decision was coming when the new contract was being put together, or if the decision was influenced by news of Swinney’s extension. All of a sudden though, that contract extension looks a little more deserving.
The folks at Rivals.com took the opportunity to revisit some of their past No. 1 recruits and how they panned out. Some of the names on the list include Terrelle Pryor and Jimmy Clausen, but they make up for it with guys like Adrian Peterson and Vince Young.
Yesterday, for Coaches on the Hot Seat Week, we dipped in to the coaches who have absolutely nothing to worry about when it comes to job security. One of those coaches who should feel confident with his position spent a day with Tiger Woods (y’all).

We have not forgotten about Miami and their waiting game for NCAA penalties. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reports that Miami has not been given an updated timetable by the NCAA, and that it should not be a surprise if the school is informed of penalties until after National Signing Day.
