We continue to follow the developments in the Auburn shooting case. Last night police surrounded a house believed to contain the suspected shooter Desmonte Leonard in East Montgomery. Dozens of law enforcement officers from local, state and federal agencies were involved in a standoff that started around 6:30 p.m. and would extend for hours until the officers were called off around 2:30 a.m.

The Big East has filed a lawsuit against TCU, seeking $5 million for reneging on a contract agreement. The Big East claims TCU agreed to pay $5 million if they failed to join the conference. Of course, TCU accepted the Big East invite only later to accept an offer to join the Big 12. The Business of College Sports has a nice breakdown of the lawsuit.
The Big East has also hired a search firm to aide in the search for a new commissioner. Russell Reynolds Associates has the task of finding someone to help lead the beleaguered, yet expanding conference following the forced resignation of John Marinatto. Why hire a search firm when they could just hire our friend from Big East Coast Bias, Mark Ennis?
It is certainly not a topic that is pleasant, but the Jerry Sandusky trial officially got underway on Monday morning with opening statements and the first alleged victim testimony.
